Diane Keaton is apparently a major Ariana Grande fan, and the legendary actress has submitted her unofficial audition to perform alongside the pop star.
Keaton shared a video montage dedicated to Grande on Wednesday (Sept. 1) that had her voice dubbed over it. “You know, Ariana Grande is just amazing, so once in my life, once in my stupid life, I just want to sing along with the amazing Ariana Grande,” the 75-year-old actress narrated before she proceeded to break out into song, specifically Grande’s Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 “Thank U, Next.”
Keaton and Grande’s vocals intertwined for the back-half of the video, but Keaton’s definitely stuck out as she deviated some choice words: “I’m so damn grateful for my ex!” she enthused during the chorus.
“I LOVE ARIANA GRANDE! DO YOU THINK SHE WOULD WANT TO SING A DUET WITH ME?” she asked her nearly two million Instagram followers in the caption while tagging Grande and using the tags #thankyounext #sing #itriedmybest.
Grande was quite grateful of the honor, writing in the comments section, “!!!! love you SO MUCH” and “i am having an out of body experience.”
Others who were also fans of Keaton’s performance were actresses Jennifer Garner and Lindsay Lohan, who were respectively the leads on 13 Going on 30 and Mean Girls, which were both spoofed in the official “Thank U, Next” music video.
In June, the Grammy-winning pop star asked the Oscar- and Golden Globe-winning actress, “How does it feel to be so f—ing iconic?” for Interview magazine. “I don’t exactly understand what that means but it’s very kind of you to say. Can you explain to me how I’m iconic?” Keaton replied. “What is that? I understand certain aspects of it, but it’s hard for me to deal with that. I don’t really see it that way. I live with myself and I’m hardly iconic. I get up in the morning and it’s me again. I’m just another person saying, ‘Gee, I’d better feed the dog.’”
