Hip-hop festival Rolling Loud and professional wrestling entertainment network WWE are partnering for a special live SmackDown in Miami this month.
Friday Night SmackDown will be coming to the Rolling Loud Miami 2021 next Friday, July 23, the first day of the three-day festival, for WWE’s first-ever collaboration with a major music festival.
WWE superstars will take the same stage as headliners Travis Scott, Post Malone and A$AP Rocky to compete in live matches for the July 23 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, which will air on Fox in a split-site broadcast with matches from Rolling Loud Miami and those from the rest of the night held at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland.
“I grew up on Sweet Chin Music, mesmerized by the spectacle that Vince McMahon and co. have built at WWE,” Tariq Cherif, co-CEO/co-founder of Rolling Loud, said in an official statement. “The idea of weaving our two storylines into one world, one must see event, is electrifying.”
Adds Scott Zanghellini, WWE senior vice president, revenue strategy & development: “What [Rolling Loud co-CEO/co-founder] Matt Zingler, Tariq Cherif and the entire Rolling Loud team have built is spectacular. We couldn’t think of a better partner to deliver such a unique WWE experience to fans during the July 23 edition of Friday Night SmackDown on Fox.”
This year’s Rolling Loud Miami will also see performances from Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, 21 Savage, DaBaby, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert and Playboi Carti. Roddy Ricch, Rod Wave, Lil Tjay, Pooh Shiesty, Polo G, Ski Mask The Slump God, City Girls and Coi Leray will also make appearances as the festival returns. Fans can expect sets from veteran icons like Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, T-Pain, Curren$y, Fetty Wap and Wale too.
Friday Night SmackDown will air live on Fox at 8 p.m. ET on July 23, featuring Universal Champion Roman Reigns, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair, SmackDown Tag Team Champions Rey and Dominik Mysterio, WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews, Bayley, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and more.
